At De Rien we build ingredient-first skincare: honest, well-dosed actives instead of long lists of fillers. Pakistan's skin has its own reality — intense year-round sun and UV that drive tanning and pigmentation, humid summers in Karachi, dusty pollution in Lahore, dry northern winters and hard water.

Use this page as your map. Match your concern to the right active in the table below, follow a simple AM/PM routine, and open any collection to read the full details and shop. Every claim here is about the look and feel of skin — skincare supports appearance; it is not a medical treatment.

How to build your routine

A simple way to layer actives: brighten and protect by day, repair and renew by night. Introduce one new active at a time and give it 2–3 weeks before adding another.

Morning · AM

Protect & brighten

  1. Gentle cleanser
  2. Vitamin C serum for antioxidant brightening
  3. Hyaluronic Acid on damp skin
  4. Moisturiser
  5. Sunscreen (SPF 30+) — non-negotiable in Pakistan
Night · PM

Repair & renew

  1. Cleanser (or Salicylic face wash if oily/acne-prone)
  2. Treatment — Retinol or Mandelic Acid (not both same night)
  3. Hyaluronic Acid on damp skin
  4. Moisturiser to seal
What to space out: use Vitamin C in the morning and Retinol at night rather than together; alternate Retinol and Mandelic Acid on different nights; and always patch-test a new active on your inner arm first.

Ingredients FAQ

The questions we're asked most about actives — answered simply.

Can I use Vitamin C and Retinol together?

It's best to separate them: use Vitamin C in the morning under sunscreen, and Retinol at night. Applying both at the same time can irritate skin. Kept to their own time of day, they complement each other beautifully.

Which ingredient is best for pigmentation and dark spots in Pakistan?

Vitamin C and Mandelic Acid are the go-tos for fading the look of dark spots. Mandelic Acid is especially suited to Pakistani skin tones because it carries a lower risk of triggering new dark marks. Whichever you choose, daily sunscreen is essential.

Is glutathione safe for the skin?

Topical and oral glutathione used in cosmetic products are generally well tolerated for antioxidant and brightening support, though visible results are gradual and not permanent. We do not recommend IV glutathione, which carries real medical risks — for that, always consult a qualified doctor.

Can I use Salicylic Acid and Hyaluronic Acid together?

Yes, they're a great pair. Salicylic Acid clears oil and unclogs pores, while Hyaluronic Acid restores the hydration that oil-control can strip away, so skin stays balanced rather than tight.

Should I use Retinol in the morning or at night?

At night only. Start with 2–3 nights a week so your skin can adjust, and always apply sunscreen the next morning, since retinol makes skin more sensitive to the sun.

Does Vitamin C replace sunscreen?

No. Vitamin C boosts your skin's daytime defence and works best under sunscreen, but it is not a substitute for SPF. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day, especially in Pakistan's strong sun.

Which is better for oily skin — Salicylic or Hyaluronic Acid?

They do different jobs, so use both. Salicylic Acid controls oil and clears pores; Hyaluronic Acid gives oily skin the lightweight, oil-free hydration it still needs. Skipping hydration often makes oily skin produce even more oil.

How long before I see results?

Hydration from Hyaluronic Acid can be visible within days. Brightening from Vitamin C or Glutathione, and fading of acne marks from Mandelic Acid, typically take around 8–12 weeks of consistent use — always paired with daily SPF.

Good to know — using actives safely

A quick note so you get the best, safest results from your routine.

De Rien products are cosmetic skincare made to support the appearance, comfort and feel of your skin — they are not medicines and are not intended to diagnose, treat or cure any condition. Individual results vary.

Active ingredients such as retinol, salicylic acid and mandelic acid can increase sensitivity. Introduce them gradually, patch-test on your inner arm first, use sunscreen daily, and stop use if irritation persists. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a diagnosed skin condition, consult a qualified dermatologist before starting a new active.
